Description: Known commonly as wood betony, ‘Hummelo’ forms a neat, rounded mound of dark green, slightly scalloped, heart-shaped leaves. Beginning in early summer, stiff flower spikes in hot pink/purple emerge.
Ornamental Features: The sturdy stems and neatly mounding foliage makes ‘Hummelo’ a tidy plant with little maintenance. New blooms appear until midsummer, but the stiff stems and durable flowers provide visual interest and structure through the summer. Versatile for borders, edging, or naturalized areas. Makes a great cut flower too!
Landscape Features: A spectacular plant to mass in groups of three or more for incredible visual impact. Very low maintenance, drought tolerant, and deer and rabbit resistant. Prefers well-drained soils and is a favourite of garden pollinators.
