Description: A beautiful addition to any garden that attracts beneficial pollinators such as bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Also commonly known as swamp milkweed, the flowers provide an important source of nectar for Monarch butterflies within their migration range.
Ornamental Features: Blooming from midsummer through until frost, the beautiful umbels of rose pink, vanilla-scented flowers are excellent for cutting. Bright green, lance-shaped leaves and its spectacular height make this a great addition to the back perennial border or pollinator gardens.
Landscaping Attributes: Prefers moist soils, but will tolerate average soils provided there is good drainage. An excellent companion plant in the veggie garden to attract beneficial pollinators! Keep in mind that the leaves of this plant are a food source for butterfly caterpillars, so a robust pollinator garden will get munched on somewhat. Low maintenance and deer and rabbit resistant.
