Description
Description: Itoh Peonies are a cross between the garden peony and Japanese tree peonies. The result combines the hardiness of garden peonies with the sophistication and unusual bloom colours of tree peonies. ‘Bartzella’ is an award-winning cultivar with luminous yellow, semi to fully double blooms on strong, sturdy stems.
Ornamental Features: This exceptionally profuse bloomer can produce up to 60 flowers per plant within a few seasons with masses of large, semi-double to double flowers in a cheerful golden yellow. The stamens in a deeper, complementary yellow contrast beautifully with the hint of raspberry peeking through the petal bases in the flower centres. Lightly fragrant with a lemony-twist, these blooms have a long vase life once cut.
Landscape Attributes: Is an herbaceous perennial with a more or less rounded form. This is a relatively low maintenance plant, and should be cut back in late fall in preparation for winter. Combine with early and late season garden Peony varieties to extend the Peony bloom period all summer! A beautiful focal plant, and deer and rabbit resistant.
