Description: A North American native multi-stemmed deciduous shrub. Features glossy green foliage and white flowers in spring. Berries ripen in early fall, just as the plant begins to display its outstanding fall color. The fruit is extremely high in antioxidants and is excellent for jams or jellies.
Ornamental Features: Showy white, cherry blossom-like flowers emerge in mid spring alongside glossy green leaves. Foliage turns a stunning dark purple/red in fall. Shiny black berries appear in abundance and are a striking contrast to the fall foliage. The fruit is astringent and tastes similar to a chokecherry. It is not suitable for fresh eating but is great for making jams and jellies.
Landscape Attributes: Extremely hardy, upright spreading shrub. Tolerant of a wide range of soil and climactic conditions. Excellent choice for attracting wildlife to your yard.
