Description: This eastern North American native plant is commonly known as ‘pussy toes’, aptly named for the fuzzy pink flowers that bear a resemblance to a cat’s toe beans. A tough plant especially suited to sunny, dry areas. This forms a very low, tidy mat of tiny, bright silvery-grey leaves. Short stems of fuzzy pink flowers appear in late spring.

Ornamental Features: Perfect for the sunny rock garden or rock wall, as a small groundcover, or for between paving stones. Pair it with any of the creeping Thyme selections; it complements the pink and purple-flowered varieties, and is a stunning contrast against the golden lemon Thymes.

Landscape Attributes: Very tolerant of dry and rocky soils, but ensure good drainage. Easily divided in spring by simply ripping the clump apart into smaller pieces. Cut or mow off flower stems after blooming. Generally left alone by pests and wildlife.
