Description: This exceptional and very popular ornamental grass performs well in a wide range of climates and soil conditions. Clumps are strongly upright, with dark green leaves. Soft feathery green/mauve plumes appear in summer, maturing into stiff wheat-coloured spikes, which last into winter.Â
Ornamental Features: An incredibly versatile grass, it can be used in large groupings towards the back of a border. Also very effective when used as a single specimen. Can even be planted in a row as hedging. The dried flower spikes provide significant winter interest.Â
Landscape Features: Clumps may be easily divided in spring. Trim to the ground in March. Provides a unique texture and form in the garden, attracts butterflies, and the flower plumes make an attractive cut/dried flower for arrangements or crafts. Unlike many ornamental grasses, will not become invasive.
