Description: Widely regarded as one of the best purple daylily cultivars, multi award-winning ‘Bela Lugosi’ will not disappoint if you are looking to spice up a sunny border with some drama. Huge, 6″ trumpets are a rich, deep purple with a contrasting limey yellow throats.
Ornamental Features: The large trumpet-like blooms are an unusual deep purple that don’t fade throughout the day. The contrasting throat is a bright chartreuse to yellow for an unexpected pop of interest. A midseason daylily, this cultivar features exceptionally well-branched flower stems and a high bud count for a long period of continuous blooming.
Landscape Features: An ideal, low maintenance choice for shrub and perennial borders or as ground cover on slopes. Attracts beneficial pollinators, and is ignored by deer and rabbits. Very cold hardy, but able to tolerate considerable heat stress and drought. Removing spent flowers and developing seed heads will prolong blooming time and may induce a later rebloom.
