Bergenia cordifolia ‘Winter Glow’
Description: Bergenia cordifolia is native to Siberia, so you know it is incredibly hardy! ‘Winter Glow’ features a low clump of shiny green leaves and stems of bell-shaped deep pink flowers that rise above the foliage in mid spring.
Ornamental Features: Boasting common names such as elephant ear and pigsqueak, the glossy leaves are reliably evergreen throughout most of the province, and turn a stunning deep red in cold weather and are a valuable addition to cut flower bouquets. Most effective when mass planted or used as an edging along a walkway, or makes a great groundcover in shady areas.
Landscape Attributes: Tolerates a wide range of soil conditions and sun exposure, including full sun to full shade. Ensure that afternoon shade is provided in hot, dry conditions. Easily divided in spring or early fall. Deadheading after blooming may result in a fall rebloom. Deer and rabbit resistant.
