Helictotrichon Blue Oat Grass


The best blue-leaved hardy grass for the Calgary area. Plants form a well-behaved clump of bright silvery-blue leaves. These grasses have tall arching stems of small flowers appearing in early summer. Clumping in habit, the Blue Oat Grass does not spread and is nice in mass plantings and mixed perennial/shrub borders.

Description: An excellent blue-leaved grass for average garden conditions. Plants form a compact, tidy clump of bright silvery-blue leaves. Taller arching stems of flowers appear in early summer. Non-spreading in habit, this grass will remain evergreen in mild winter regions. Requires good drainage, especially in warm summer regions. Clumps may be easily divided in spring. In cold regions the foliage sometimes needs to be tidied up with scissors in spring, but quickly regrows.
