Description: ‘Little Spire’ is a compact version of the popular garden plant known as Russian sage. It is an herbaceous perennial in the mint family that has recently been reassigned to the genus Salvia. The pretty violet, tubular flowers bloom over an exceptionally long time, and are a favorite of hummingbirds, bees and butterflies.
Ornamental Features: Finely dissected, grey-green foliage is highly aromatic when brushed and is ornamental on its own, particularly in winter. Long panicles of violet-blue, tubular flowers appear in midsummer and persist until fall. This compact variety keeps a tidy and upright profile whose delicate-looking appearance belies its toughness.
Landscape Features: Drought tolerant once established, this plant is perfect for xeriscaping, rock gardens, and Mediterranean gardens. Tolerates poor soils, and is deer and rabbit resistant. Attracts bees, butterflies and hummingbirds.
