Description: Known by a number of common names, Bergenia ‘Pink Dragonfly’ features large, round to oval, leathery evergreen leaves and showy pink blossoms in spring.
Ornamental Features: The thick leaves form an attractive basal rosette, and emerge dark green with reddish tinges. In late summer, the leaves start to develop a reddish blush, and by winter they are are a deep plum that looks spectacular against the white snow in winter. In mid spring, tall stems bearing pretty pink, somwhat tubular flowers with dark pink throats. A great, versatile perennial that provides year-round interest.
Landscape Attributes: Low maintenance, and tolerates a wide range of soil conditions and sun exposure, including full sun to full shade. Ensure that afternoon shade is provided in hot, dry conditions. Easily divided in spring or early fall. Deadheading after blooming may result in a fall rebloom. Deer and rabbit resistant.
