Description: Also known as Helen’s Flower, or Sneezeweed, ‘Mariachi Salsa’ belongs to the Mariachi series of Helenium that are bred to be smaller and sturdier in stature. This cultivar features daisy-like flowers in shades of red and orange.
Ornamental Features: An excellent addition to the late summer perennial garden! Dark green, lance-shaped leaves form a compact mound, and sturdy stems hold cheerful flowers with a unique central cone. Fiery red petals with a hint of yellow at their bases radiate from the prominent spherical cone, which starts out chocolate brown and develops a lacy yellow look as the stamens develop. The flowers attract butterflies and make a beautiful addition to late summer bouquets.
Landscape Attributes: This variety features shorter, sturdier stems which should eliminate the need for staking. Excellent in the border, looks stunning planted in mass, and mixes beautifully with late season ornamental grasses. Low maintenance, and drought tolerant once established. Deer and rabbit resistant.
